Christmas Markets: Nuremberg

Monday, January 5, 2015

The last Christmas market we attended was the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, which also happens to be the largest and most popular Christmas market in Germany. Thankfully, we only live about an hour from Nuremberg so it wasn't too far of a drive for us. Nick got off work early that day so we were able to go in the afternoon instead of the evening, which ended up working out well for us since we were able to avoid the large crowds that so many people had warned us about.

The Nuremberg Christmas market took place in the Hauptmarkt, which is part of Nuremberg's old town district. It had WAY more stalls than the Amberg market (obviously) and also Regensburg. We roamed up and down the countless stalls that were set up, admiring the traditional crafts and tasty treats that were on display. We even bought a few items for some family members (the gifts will be arriving a little late, thanks to Nick's indecisiveness haha).
After about an hour or so of being at the market, Nick's stomach started feeling upset, so we decided it was best that we go home so he could get some rest. Though our time at the Nuremberg market was cut short, it was still a great experience. We were really glad we were able to visit the market this season. If you're ever in Germany during the Christmas season, check out Nuremberg's market and make sure to do so during the day so you can avoid being squished by the crowds in the evening! ;)
